1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to LangGenie, including the mobile application, website, AI tutor features, learning content, credit purchases, referral features, support, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
2. Information we collect
Account information: name, email address, login method, account identifiers, authentication details, account status, and support contact details.
Learning profile and progress: source language, target language, selected words and sentences, learned items, revision history, grammar chapters, quiz answers, scores, streaks, levels, achievements, points, daily flow progress, and app preferences.
AI tutor and practice content: typed messages, custom topics, voice input, generated responses, transcripts, session metadata, tutor persona choices, ratings, feedback, and timing information. Voice features may process audio or speech-derived text to provide conversation practice, pronunciation support, transcription, and feedback.
Purchase and credit information: selected bundles, credit balances, transaction identifiers, purchase validation status, platform payment method type, taxes or fees where applicable, refund or chargeback records, and transaction history. We do not store full payment card numbers.
Referral and reward information: referral codes, invited-user events, reward eligibility, friend join or purchase events, reward balances, and fraud-prevention signals.
Device, usage, and diagnostics: device type, operating system, app version, language settings, approximate region, IP address, logs, crash data, feature usage, performance data, and security events.
Support communications: messages you send to support, attachments you provide, and information needed to investigate and respond to requests.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, personalize language learning, run the daily learning flow, provide vocabulary and sentence practice, deliver grammar lessons and quizzes, schedule revision, enable AI tutor voice or text sessions, calculate credit usage, process purchases, validate payments, provide referrals and rewards, respond to support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, debug and improve the Service, comply with legal obligations, and communicate important account or service updates.
4. AI processing
LangGenie uses AI systems to generate language explanations, examples, translations, corrections, conversation responses, transcripts, and feedback. Content you submit to AI features may be sent to AI service providers for processing. Do not submit sensitive personal information, confidential information, payment details, passwords, or information about other people unless you have permission and it is necessary for your learning use.
5. Legal bases where required
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we process personal information to perform our contract with you, with your consent where required, for our legitimate interests such as service security and product improvement, to comply with legal obligations, and to protect users, LangGenie, and the public.
6. How we share information
We may share information with service providers that help us operate LangGenie, including hosting, databases, cloud infrastructure, analytics, crash reporting, authentication, email delivery, payment validation, fraud prevention, customer support, speech processing, and AI processing providers. We may share purchase-related information with Apple, Google, payment processors, banks, or other transaction providers as needed to process, validate, refund, or investigate payments.
We may share information if required by law, legal process, platform policy, or safety need; to protect rights, security, and integrity; during a business transaction such as merger, financing, acquisition, or asset transfer; or with your direction or consent.
7. App store and payment providers
Purchases made through Apple App Store, Google Play, Apple Pay, Google Pay, card processors, or similar providers are also governed by those providers' privacy policies and terms. LangGenie receives limited transaction information needed to confirm purchases, update credits, manage transaction history, prevent fraud, and handle support.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and online services may use cookies, local storage, analytics, log files, or similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, measure performance, prevent abuse, and understand how users interact with LangGenie.
9. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain your account and learning history, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and maintain security. Retention periods may differ by data type. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it where reasonably possible.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You can help by using a secure device, keeping login details private, and contacting us if you suspect unauthorized access.
11. Your choices and rights
You may access, update, or correct certain account information in the app. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. To make a privacy request or request account deletion, contact support@langgenie.net. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
You can manage some permissions, such as microphone, speech recognition, notifications, and app tracking choices, through your device settings. Disabling permissions may limit some LangGenie features.
12. Children's privacy
LangGenie is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. International transfers
LangGenie and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
14. Third-party links
The Service may contain links to app stores, payment providers, websites, or third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our Service, legal requirements, or privacy practices change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by other reasonable means.
